Mesh Wide Fit Trainer

£49.99Free UK delivery

The most breathable and the most trainer-like. An open-mesh panel sits over the forefoot and the strap folds completely flat, so the shoe opens out and the foot goes straight in.

Choose this style if

  • Hot, sweaty or macerated feet that need air over the forefoot
  • First-time buyers moving across from ordinary trainers
  • Anyone dressing the shoe up or down
  • One extra-wide fitting, set by the strap. No EE or 6E code to guess between. You pick the size, then set the width on your own foot.
  • Removable gel and EVA insole. Lifts out whole — blue gel over 5 mm and 3 mm EVA — so a custom orthotic drops straight in.
  • Seam-free forefoot lining. Nothing stitched across a bunion joint, a hammer toe or skin that has lost sensation.
  • Hook-and-loop closure throughout. No laces. Openable seated, one-handed, or by someone else.
  • Four styles, four widths of opening. From a twin-strap shoe that opens 34 mm to a full flap that opens 72 mm.
  • Unisex UK 3–12, EU 36–46. Whole sizes, one price across the whole range at £49.99.
Fit and construction

Closure. Single wide strap with a leather-look pull tab. Upper. Heather knit with an open-mesh forefoot panel. Air window in the heel unit. Strap opens fully flat.

The opening measures roughly 46 mm at its widest with the strap fully released, which is what decides whether the shoe will go on at all on a bad day. The insole is a removable stack: a gel top layer over 5 mm and 3 mm EVA. Lift out as many layers as a custom orthotic needs.

Delivery and exchanges

Free UK delivery on every order, Royal Mail Tracked 48, typically 3–4 working days. Next working day £4.95, Saturday £6.95. Sixty days to exchange or return, free both ways. Wrong size, or the shoe will not open wide enough? We post the replacement first.

What this shoe is not

It is not a prescription device, a bespoke orthopaedic shoe or a treatment for any condition. It is a well-made adjustable shoe with the depth, width and opening that people with these conditions keep telling us they cannot find on the high street. If you are under a podiatrist, take it to your next appointment.

The rest of the range

Three other styles, three other widths of opening

Same insole, same seam-free lining, same £49.99. The only thing that changes is how far the shoe opens and how much room there is over the toes.

Measured at the widest point of the opening with the strap fully released.

Common questions

Which style should I choose?
Choose on how wide the shoe needs to open, not on a width code. If a normal trainer is tight across the ball of the foot but you can get it on, the DW-006 or DW-013 will do. If you have bunions or a spreading forefoot, go to the DW-015. If your feet swell through the day, you have oedema, or you wear a dressing, go straight to the DW-019. The style finder asks three questions and tells you.
Is there a width fitting to choose as well?
No. Every pair ships in one extra-wide fitting and the strap sets the width, so there is nothing to get wrong. Pick your size, then set the shoe to whatever your foot is doing that day. See how wide each style opens.
Will my orthotic fit inside?
Yes. The insole is a removable stack — a gel top layer over 5 mm and 3 mm EVA — and it lifts out whole, leaving a flat, deep footbed. Take out as many layers as your device needs. Full detail in the orthotics guide.
My feet are different sizes. Can I order two?
Order both sizes and email us the order number — we refund one pair and log a split-size record, so future orders arrive matched. There is no extra charge for a split pair.
Can I wear these if I have diabetes?
They are designed with diabetic feet in mind: no interior forefoot seams, a deep toe box and a lining that does not trap heat. They are not a prescription or bespoke medical device. If you are under a podiatry or diabetic foot clinic, take the shoe to your next appointment and check it against their advice.
What if the fit is wrong?
Sixty days to exchange, free both ways. Tell us what went wrong and we send the replacement size or a wider-opening style before the first pair comes back, so you are not left without shoes.
How do I clean them?
Brush off loose dirt, then sponge the upper with warm water and a little non-bio detergent. Air dry away from a radiator. Do not put them in a washing machine — the midsole bond does not enjoy it.
